George Halfkenny

Digital Strategy Consultant
I have first-hand insight into how the Shirley Menzies Seven Basic Needs empower success for marginalized children and youth. This knowing is the core tenant of why I joined the Menzies cause.

George Halfkenny's Bio

George Halfkenny is a seasoned Information Technologist who grew up in the Canadian Child Welfare system.  After 10 years in the Alberta Child Welfare System, George aged out of the system and went on to pursue an Undergraduates Degree in Computer Information Systems.   She has first-hand insight into how the Menzie’s 5 developmental requirements empowered her success at a young age and is a core tenant of her involvement in our cause.

During her youth, George served as Executive Director and Youth Advocate at Alberta Youth In Care and Custody Network, a non-profit organization that advocates and supports Youth, aged 14 – 24, in or from foster care/young offender systems. After leaving that role, George attended post-secondary and also served as a Alberta Region 4 Board Member for the Redesign and Implementation of a new community-based delivery system designed to improve services to children.
